A common stop-over for travelers between the south-western islands and the larger islands, Sarpon is an independent merchant kingdom. Its ruler is Gao Sizai, a benevolent autocrat, and the 26th King in the Gao Dynastic legacy. The Gao have ruled Sarpon for nearly 750 years. Tourism and gambling are major industries, and enjoy the sanction and protection of the Gao Dynasty. Luxury is the rule, and if there are any malcontents on Sarpon, they are never visible in public.
Gong Gao Palace
Richly appointed and dripping in baroque, elaborate statuary, the royal palace is widely considered the most indulgent private residence anywhere among the islands. The palace is home not just to members of the Gao Dynasty, but also to many dozens of courtiers and over a thousand attendants, servants, guards and seneschals. This all makes for a quite a lot of court intrigue, and influence is peddled and purchased in every room of the palace, from the grand dining halls to the multi-story library, to the marble-lined bath house… Gong Gao Palace
